Safety is more than just a priority at WellMax – it is a core value and an integral part of our culture. Protecting the health and safety of our workforce is fundamental to our business.
Each employee is entitled to return home after each and every shift in the same state of health in which they arrived. WellMax strives to maintain a safety culture within its employees that promotes diligence, involvement and compliance. WellMax have a thorough health and safety directive to which we rigorously audit ourselves against constantly. We endeavour to promote a safety culture that is constantly evolving with the tasks that we do.
Health & Safety
- From the boardroom to the shop floor, WellMax's commitment to safety reaches every corner of the organization and is central to everything that it does, every day. Regardless of where they work or what they do, all WellMax employees and contractors have the power — and the responsibility — to stop a job at any time if they think it is unsafe. They are the first line of defense in assessing the company’s risks and managing safe operations.
- WellMax takes its responsibility to its workforce, the public and those affected by its activities very seriously. To ensure that this responsibility is felt throughout the company, WellMax proactively encourages an all-encompassing safety culture.
- Health and Safety is absolutely paramount to our business. Working at height is one of the most dangerous roles on a construction site and it is important to us that we are sending our employees home safely at the end of the day whilst also ensuring the safety of those we are working around. Through continual review, development and investment in safer work practices and systems of work we are able to achieve this.
- We are committed to developing and maintaining a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture in which statutory requirements are viewed as the very minimum standard we are achieving.
Responsibility
- WellMax operates an open door policy where operatives are able to discuss any concerns, ideas or initiatives relating to Health & Safety. This encourages everyone to take responsibility for Health & Safety in their work environment.
- All operatives are trained with Health & Safety as a primary driver. The Construction Skills CISRS Health & Safety training must be in place before an operative is even permitted on site and further Health & Safety training is given during training for their scaffolding qualification.
- Site and task specific training is given in the form of site inductions, tool box talks and Method Statements and Risk Assessments. These provide such detailed information on the works they pre-empt, anticipated Health & Safety concerns and allow for managing any foreseen risk.
Independent Evaluation
- WellMax continuously review their Integrated Management System, policies and their implementation; this is the only way to ensure that policies remain effective and compliant with changing statutory requirements.
- All policies are maintained by fully qualified independent safety consultants to ensure they consistently represent the latest industry standards.
- Monthly safety inspections are carried out on every site by fully qualified independent safety consultants and the findings are analysed and recommendations implemented.
- Updates are also provided by fully qualified independent safety consultants and recognized trade bodies such as NASC, to ensure statutory compliance and industry best practice.
- In the event of an incident on site, WellMax's independent safety consultants are available to carry out thorough incident investigation reports. These findings are then analysed and recommendations enacted to prevent reoccurrence.
